View from the High Plains Trailhead. The trailhead has a parking area, but can also be accessed by riding the Coalton Trail. This will be a popular trail in the winter months since it will be clear long before the trails in the foothills.

The Doudy Draw trail was once hiking only. That has recently changed to multiuse and this was my first ride on the newly accessible trail.

The first portion of the Doudy Draw Trail is wide dirt road, but eventually you reach some thick trees and a ribbon thin singletrack that descends into the meadow.

The views are fabulous from the Doudy Draw Trail.

Though the rest of the trail was dry, this short section of trail was still holding a lot of snow, meaning it will be extremely muddy when it warms up enough to melt the snow. Potential damage could occur here and it would be best to stay away from the trail during times of extreme temperature changes.

Expect to share the trail. I have a theory that they are opening more trails to mountain bikers with hopes that they will be able to teach the natives (cows) how to charge a toll. Fortunately, it was pretty easy to get through this tolling area. I just rang my bell and they scattered...
